As a precious metal, platinum recycling involves complex chemical reactions, especially redox reactions. Platinum recycling requires an understanding of redox-related properties.
Platinum recovery mainly includes four stages: pretreatment, chemical dissolution, redox reaction and purification. The pretreatment stage requires physical treatment of waste platinum to bring platinum ions into a state suitable for chemical reactions.
In the chemical dissolution stage of platinum recovery, we will use aqua regia to dissolve platinum to generate platinum chloride. Then it involves the redox reaction of platinum ions to reduce platinum chloride to metallic platinum. We will use hydrogen as the organic reducing agent, control the reaction conditions at about 70°C, and adjust the pH value to below 2, which can guarantee the safety to a great extent. The platinum recovery reaction proceeds smoothly.
Palladium recovery The metal palladium obtained after the redox reaction usually contains a small amount of impurities. At this time, we need to use electrolysis and still need to strictly control the reaction time, temperature, pH value, etc. of the experiment to further purify the palladium.
